Introduction to the booklet Exploring Placemaking in Context, PlaceCity, Oslo-Vienna

It has been a pleasure for me to be invited to participate in the launch of the project PlaceCity, the PlaceCity Kick-off in Oslo and the Placemaking-Pils event, August 29 2019, and present from my ongoing action research in Arendal, and share my experience on Placemaking.

I have also been invited to take part in interviews for a Master Project connected to the PlaceCity project, in addition to beeing interviewed for this booklet, about my long term experience with placemaking approaches.

The PlaceCity project is operating between 2019 and 2021 with support of the JPI Urban Europe programme with the BMVIT and RCN funding. The project consortium is composed by Eutropian (Lead Partner), BIDs, City of Oslo and Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Nabolagshager, Placemaking Europe, STIPO, and Superwien Urbanism.

The project wants to redefine and deepen the local placemaking- and find a common path to spark cohesion and connect shared values, as well as increase the sense of place.

As part of this work, this booklet on common topics, common challenges, and overall lots of hope and engagement to improve our cities are presented, as part of the PlaceCity project.
